Kristi is on vacation from the blog this week, so here I am trying to come up with a post for the day. How do you come up with creative ideas that haven't already been written about? I sure do appreciate it Kristi!
As the title states above, do you usually go on a family vacation each year or just stay home? For us, the budget hasn't allowed much room for a real vacation the last few years (although it seems like even before we had kids almost a decade ago). Lucky for us, we live near the beach and lots of people are always up to come visit us during the summer months. It has been wonderful to have family and friends visit us in our own home, where we can sleep in our own beds, and be comfortable in our own surroundings. We only have to spend a minimal amount of money to entertain, have a nice meal and maybe even a few cocktails. And, if they have little ones, it is an added bonus for the kids too. At the end of the visit, they are the ones loading their family in the car for a long drive home and all we have to do it wave good-bye and go about our day at home (or at the beach). I have learned to love "staycations" for these very reasons and wouldn't want it any other way!
This year, we finally had our first big family vacation to... Disney! The hubby and I had never been ourselves, so we weren't really sure what to expect. It turned out to be everything we had hoped plus more! It was truly magical and I think the kids were the perfect age. There was so much to see and we tried to squeeze every last minute out of every day. By the end of our first family vacation, we were all exhausted! At the end of this vacation, we were the ones loading up in the car for our ten hour drive back home. I think we all will have fond memories of this awesome trip but man, did that our own beds feel oh so wonderful.
So, whether you have a vacation or "staycation" this summer, just remember that it is all about spending time with loved ones and making some great memories. Hope everyone has a wonderful summer!
