All right, so maybe that was a little dramatic. But honestly, yesterday, we took a cloth diaper break. I have all sorts of great excuses: nearly all of my diapers are dirty (they're in the machine right now, lol), I was having a non-cloth-diapering friend watch my kids while DH and I were at a funeral, we've all got an awful cold…
So are we horrible for using sposies on him for a day? I don't think so. Sometimes, a mom needs a break. Even if that break is just from cloth diapers. Some days, we take breaks from math (I homeschool the oldest kid), other days we take a break from getting dressed at all (lol), and still other days I take a break from cooking dinner (we have left overs or order out). So why not a break from cloth, right?
Reasons you should consider taking a break:
- Your baby is getting rashes for no apparent reason, just in the diaper area. If this is happening to you as it has with me in the past, I strongly recommend a break from cloth for the day so that you can give all of those diapers a good long soak followed by 2-3 hot washes with no soap. You may have a build-up problem that is irritating your little one.
- Life is feeling hectic and your diapers are only adding to the mayhem. If you feel this way, please take a break. If your diapers are all that's holding you together right now, then by all means, continue using them.
- You're not sure if you even want to continue on the cloth path. If you're seriously questioning your decision to cloth diaper, then take a break. Don't get rid of the diapers, just take a little time off to regroup. Sometimes that's all it takes to reinforce your original decision and get you back on track.
- Fill in this blank. If you feel like taking a break and can't come up with an excuse to do so, just take a break. You don't need a good excuse other than that.
So now that our totally stressful last two days are over, we're jumping back on the cloth band wagon and I'm so happy to be here again. Anyone else want to confess? Lol.
*Disclaimer: The above picture has NOTHING to do with today's post except DS is wearing a cloth diaper. Lol. I just like this picture.
