An Interview with Crystal of Daffe Designs!

This week's WAHM is Crystal of Daffe Designs! She makes a ton of different cute items and all of them can be personalized! My favorite items include the build-your-own fitted diapers, the wipes cases, and the too-cute personalized lanyards! You can check it all out here: http://www.daffe-designs.com/designs.com/ and you can check her out on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Daffe-Designs/136811326346644

On to the interview with Crystal!

A little about you…

1. Where do you live?

Newport News, VA

2. What is your background in? (former job or study in school)

I spent 10 years working in property and auto insurance sales/service. I quit there in November 2009. In January 2010, I opened my home daycare; in June of 2010 I opened Daffe Designs.

3. What items do you sell in your store?

I sell through my website or Facebook and it's a variety of items. Clothing, accessories, toys, bags, etc. Everything is custom and has the option of being embroidered.

4. How long have you been making your creations?

I started dabbling in sewing items about 2 years ago but the business has officially been open for 7 months now.

5. Can any of your items by personalized?

All the items can be personalized.

6. What items have become best sellers?

My shirts with applique and embroidery designs. I have well over 200 designs to choose from and can customize them with prints, colors, and adding embroidery.

7. How many hours a day do you devote to filling etsy orders?

3+ hours depending on the number of orders and other schedule conflicts. My daycare doesn't close until 6pm and then I have to get my family taken care of so sewing doesn't start until 8-9pm. I slot people in on days for their item to be finished so it just depends on what I'm doing on how long I'll work. I've been known to stay up until 3-4am though and my alarm for starting our daycare day goes off at 5am!
