Snow days and delays are upon us! Yesterday, we had an early dismissal and this morning we have a two hour delay (hence the delayed post, lol). If you're like me, then snow delays, cancellations, and early dismissals not only mean your own kids are home but the neighbors are over too. Haha. That means six kids in my house right now! :)

So what do you do with kids that are too cold to play outside anymore and too "bored" to come up with anything to do on their own? Make playdough! It's fun and entertains them for hours. Even my youngest at 20 months has a ton of fun with it. Here's a great and easy recipe:

Recipe:

2 cups of flour
2 cups of water
1 cup of salt
2 tbsp of vegetable oil (any oil will do)
1 tbsp cream of tartar (optional, it improves the elasticity of the playdough)
a few drops of food coloring, any color you want

1. Mix together first 5 ingredients and heat over medium heat until it's not sticky anymore. If it feels too sticky, it probably is. Eventually, it won't anymore. It should take around 5 minutes so stay close and keep stirring!
2. Add the food coloring when it's done. It might be fun to add it while your kids play so they can see what colors mixed together make what.
*Tip: If you want to make purple, you need more parts red than blue so you don't end up with muddy brown.

Have fun!
