Backwards

When it comes to cloth, I’m almost positive that I’m completely backwards. One of my main reasons for cloth diapering is the cute factor. It’s actually tied for the number one reason alongside saving money-which I can’t possibly be doing a whole lot of considering the number of diapers I have and how often I trade them for new ones. But that’s a different post for a different day.

Since I know I’m completely backwards, and now you do too, it isn’t too far fetched or unbelievable then for me to tell you that I was actually sold on mama cloth long before I was sold on cloth diapers. That’s right. I used cloth on me before I used cloth on my babies. You see, a friend of mine used both cloth diapers and mama cloth. She’d been telling me for quite awhile that her periods were better and her symptoms less now that she was using mama cloth. Since I have awful cramps, I was willing to try just about anything. I’ve never looked back. In fact, I can’t imagine ever using disposable pads again!

In my mind, cloth for me wasn’t as gross as cloth that caught poop. Backwards and strange yes, but true nonetheless. It wasn’t until I’d been using it for about a year that I decided to give cloth diapers a try on my then-two-year-old daughter Lily. She was in the process of potty training during the day but still needed something for at night.

Yet another backward moment. I was more willing to try cloth at night-when most cloth accidents occur in my current experience-than I was during the day. Despite that, we had no accidents or leaks with the cloth diapers. I was hooked after just a few nights and knew without a doubt that I’d be cloth diapering my next baby.

And guess what? I do cloth diaper him. And I love it. I can’t imagine NOT doing it.

Mama cloth was how I got started on cloth diapering! Although, if you're not a mom, what are you supposed to call your cloth pads? :-P After using those, going the cloth diaper route was just the next logical step. I'm jealous of that huge diaper stash in your picture! :-D

Lol, thanks! That's a drop in the bucket compared to what we have now. I'm obsessed! He was three months old in that first picture and about 16 months in the second one.

And I agree, I felt like after using mama cloth for myself for so long that it made no sense to put my baby in a disposable! I knew I had to cloth diaper after that. :)

I'm with you! My first reason was the money with a very very close second of the cuteness factor. People think I'm doing it to be green and I have to admit that is pretty much just a great benefit. I'm the only person I know that does cloth diapers, but I am hoping to convert some....
