Lily Reed Interview!

Lily Reed Designs has some of the cutest bag tags you've ever seen! They're perfect for your child's back pack! Check out the interview:

A little about you…..

1) Where do you live?

I grew up in the Kansas City area, moved to Texas for 8 years, and then settled down again in Kansas City to be closer to family.

2) A little bit about your family.

My husband and I have been married for 13 years. We have 3 kiddos (2 boys and 1 girl), they are 7,6, and 2.

3) What is your background in?

I have a degree in nutrition and kinesiology. I worked in the healthcare industry before deciding to stay at home with my kids. *Note from Kristi: Kinesiology is defined on dictionary.com as "the science dealing with the interrelationship of the physiological processes and anatomy of the human body with respect to movement."*

4) How long have you been making your personalized tags?

I just started making the tags in March of this year. My husband started making custom cycling jerseys which brought the addition of a special printer and heat press into our home. I started experimenting, and I loved the results.

5) Do you make your own designs?

Yes! The design aspect is my favorite part. I do a lot of custom work.

6) What materials are used for your tags?

The tags are made using fiberglass-reinforced plastic, special inks, and a heat press. It is a process called sublimation. *Note from Kristi: Dictionary.com defines sublimations as "to refine or purify a substance."*

7) How many hours a day do you devote to creating and making your tags?

Right now, I am probably spending 4-6 hours a day on my tags. School is starting soon, so business is picking up!

8) If there were more hours in the day… what would we find you doing?

Spending more time with my family. There is never enough time!

9) What other items do you sell in your Etsy shop?

In addition to bag tags, I sell personalized mouse pads, bookmarks, and pet tags. Watch for the addition of personalized holiday ornaments coming this fall.

10) Any dreams of growing Lily Reed?

Lily Reed will continue to grow as long as I can keep my work and family life balanced.
