Sugar Baby Bows Interview

Our final WAHM for this month is Jackie of Sugar Baby Bows! You can see her store here: http://www.sugarbabybows.com and you can see her facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=lf#!/pages/Sugar-Baby-Bows/167132408327?ref=ts

For an incentive this week, Jackie is offering a free ribbon hair clip with each new order from her store. Plus there will, of course, be a giveaway later this week!

1. Tell us a little about yourself.

I will be turning 30 on May 28th. I am the mother of a 2 year old little girl, Sage Marie, who was my inspiration for starting Sugar Baby Bows. I work part-time at the Hershey Medical Center in Interventional Cardiology working with mostly pediatric patients. I also teach as an adjunct at HACC during the spring semester. When I am not working outside of home, I enjoy spending time with my family and of course making bows.

2. How did you get started?

After buying a few bows and headbands in stores and online, I decided that I would make a few of my own for my daughter. She was a bald baby, so finding something that would stay in her hair was always a challenge. Plus I liked to have bows and headbands to match her outfits. After a few of my friends and family members with little girls of their own asked me to make bows for them as well and suggested that I start selling them online.

3. Do you crochet your own hats and headbands?

I do not crochet my own hats and headbands. Some are handmade by a wonderful woman; whom I met through a fundraiser, and some I get through a wholesaler.

4. What inspires your creations?

I try to find bright, fun colors and coordinate with the season and holidays, and of course, having a little girl of my own inspires me each and every day!

5. Do you have a favorite?

I love the crochet beanies! They are great and so versatile. It is easy to change the look of them by adding a beautiful boutique style bow or gerbera daisy.

6. Anything new we can look forward to seeing?

I try to come up with new and cute designs all the time. I plan to add some marabou puff hair clips and a greater selection of ribbons to choose from. We always welcome custom orders too.

7. What can you tell us about the Gripzies? Do they work with all hair types, even the ever difficult “fine hair?”

Gripzies are free of latex and toxins; they conform to the hair clip and create a no-slip grip. They work great in very fine baby hair. I add them to all of my daughter’s clips to help ensure that they stay in her hair and don’t slip out.

So sweet of you to post for your daughter! I got to see lots of her bows up close and personally, you can definitely see that she spends a lot of time on each one and doesn't just throw them together. She was describing the process involved in making the corkers and I was amazed! :D
